Daphie (Wooly Woofer)

Daphie is sheltie, sometimes also known as a Shetland Sheepdog, or miniature Collie. She is probably one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet.

Shelties are known for the intelligence and Daphie is no exception. She is shy but very friendly and affectionate once she gets to know you. Her shyness often leads her to do some pretty silly, goofy things and thus her name "Daphie".

We decided on a sheltie because of Tammy's fondness for them. Some years ago she had a sheltie named Cylde when she lived in northern Minnesota. With her fond memories of Cylde and the stores she shared with me we knew needed another Sheltie.

We found her at a breeder not far from Spokane. Her story there was quite sad as the place was more a puppy mill than a humane farm. The breeder had trained her for show but lost interest in her because as she put it "her breedings would not take" Because of that she had been neglected and had very little loving care, spending her time hiding as best she could from everyone.

It took quite a few months to prove to her we could be trusted but now that she's put her past behind her she's really blossomed and is very loving.

Daphie's favorite things include going on hikes in the mountains, being groomed, playing with Tinker, and vanilla sandwich cookies.
