One of the many fires we saw
on our moving/trip to Idaho in 2003 |
|
A stream
just inside the north entrance to Yellowstone. We had to
detour as the west entrance to the park was closed due to fire.

Our flower, the Indian Paint
Brush. The Paint Brush became our flower when we were
volunteering on a prairie restoration project back in Minnesota. |

Grazing
Elk are a very common sight in the high prairies in northern
Yellowstone. |

More Elk, just off the side
of the road. Many people park to watch and take pictures,
a few not so smart people walk out to the Elk. Usually the
Elk just run away but once in a while a Bull or a mother will
attack. |
|
Steaming
and boiling pots are found all over the park due to the
geo-thermal activity just below the surface of the volcanic
caldera which is Yellowstone. |

The volcanic minerals and
various bacteria which thrive in the hot waters of this pool
give it its unusual though beautiful colors. |
|
It is
often cloudy and cool in Yellowstone, surrounded by mountains
and high in altitude. |
